Worship this week
Are you joyous? Is your heart filled with happiness when you think about God and your relationship to him? Or are you simply trying to measure up to a perceived standard you believe he places on you. Don’t get me wrong, God wants us to obey his commands and to trust in him but he also wants us to be joyous in him (Philippians 4:4). God’s essence is far more than rules and regulations. On the contrary, our God is filled with joy. We see it in the way he interacts with his people. Check out Zephaniah 3:17:
The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.
According to Websters, to exult is to show triumphant elation. To rejoice is to show great joy or delight. God is filled with this stuff and he expresses it all over you. Let that fill you with strength and power this week!
